The Missions Committee is made up of 10 members of Franklin FUMC. Serving on the committee in 2010 are: Rachel Hoskins, chairman; Theresa Ramsey, secretary; Ron Winecoft, Ben Laseter, Randy Phillips, Betty Warstler, Kelli Inabinet, Bob Poindexter, Rena Sutton, and Pastor John Fowler.

Our goal is to serve as the connection between the church and mission needs locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Our annual budget is dependent on fundraising activities and comes largely from two events: the annual Bazaar held in July and Entertainment Tonight held in August. In addition, the mission committee receives financial support from the Stained Glass Ministry and memorial donations.

On average the missions committee has an annual operating budget of $25,000  to $30,000. Funding requests come from a variety of sources and applications for funds are available at the church office as well as on the web site.

The committee meets quarterly to review funding requests.

As of August 2010 the committee has awarded approximately $20,000 to a number of programs including: CareNet, the Blue Ridge Dental Clinic, Heifer International, Full Pardon Ministries, Latino Outreach, Step by Step Ministries, Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Counseling Center, and Haiti Relief.
